The Women Computer Hackers of WWII

In the era of vacuum tube, department store-sized electronic computer of the early 1900's, there was a British version whose sole purpose was to help speed up the process of cracking or deciphering German secret codes.

This year marks the 70th anniversary of that machine - Colossus C, designed by Tommy Flowers. The objective of the Colossus Mark 1 was to decipher the sophisticated encryption method Nazi leader Adolph Hitler was using to communite with his generals during World War II. The Colossus was hailed as the first electronic computer but was kept secret from the world for 30 years. It was 7-feet high, 17-feet wide, weighed a ton, consumed 8,000 Watts of power, and read and write 5,000 characters per second.

Matching Moms at Mom Meet Mom

I read one article about this new social matching site that "not all moms are bloggers and social media enthusiasts." So, how do new moms find experienced moms with similar interests, schedules, families, and personalities?

MomMeetMom.com takes the ordinary matching app to something more useful than dating. The parenting site was created by two friends, Christa and Julia, each with two kids who both wished there was something they could do to take the stress out of meeting other moms. Later, another mom named Meg joined the team.

Their common needs was what all three of them wanted to experience - a fun online destination where moms could meet. Thus was born Mom Meet Mom, a fun website designed for moms and caregivers that takes the stress out of making mom friends.

Once you sign up, you can meet moms, find playdates for kids, and get the support you need. The website uses an exclusive matching system designed just for Mom Meet Mom to help moms find local moms with similar interests, schedules, families, and personalities. It takes the guesswork and stress out of "mom dating" so moms can build an amazing mom support network, no matter what their situations are.

There is no cost associated with creating a Mom Meet Mom account – it offers a single service tier available free to all members. However, it may roll out a second and third tier of service in the future with more benefits like ad-free site access, a blogging platform, and/or identity verification that will be available to members who pay a monthly or yearly subscription fee.
